Hops in Florida - New Photos

Hops in Florida.
Chinook - Photo By Dunerbrew
It's getting close to harvest time for the first season hops here at the Dunerbrew Farms (backyard) in Lake Mary, Florida.  Earlier in the year we documented some of the growth from rhizome to climbing green vines, and now we have some additional photos.

It's been said that growing hops in Florida is tough.  Truth be told, I did very little, except water on those early weeks where we didn't have the every day afternoon rains.  Bugs?  We dumped a box of lady bugs in the yard this past spring, which I attribute to keeping a lot of the bad bugs away.  Anyway, fingers were crossed and it looks like a modest harvest is in store.  The Chinook ended up winning the race over the Centennial.  Both did OK though, and I'm pretty pleased overall.

The sequence of photos below were taken within the last few weeks.  Note the dates on the captions.
