A Twitter friend from across the globe emailed me his clone recipe for Mountain Goat Steam Ale, an authentic Australian craft beer. This will be the next brew. And it seems like the ingredients should be available to me here too.
The recipe calls for a base malt and wheat malt, along with 4 different hops. About 4.5% ABV and 35 IBUs, this should be a nice session beer. They call it a "Steam Ale". In America we can't call it that (Anchor Brewing has the trademark), so perhaps this is more of a "California Common" style. At the same time, an ale yeast is used, instead of a lager...but I'm not sure that matters much.
I'm looking forward to the process and ultimately to the taste.
More to come...
