A few weeks ago, I posted about trying the Maibock and hoping for it to hurry up and be ready to bottle. Lagering just takes too long. Well, I couldn't wait much longer, brewed an ale and let the Maibock set in the refrigerator at 62 degrees for 9 days. Brewed on 09-01-2012 and bottles on 10-22-2012, that is 7 weeks total, with 6 of lagering? Not too bad.
Final Gravity was 1.020, which seems higher than preferred. It was an all extract batch if that has anything to do with it.
The taste seemed a bit more smooth than previously, with nice malt flavors. Hardly any hop character at all. It was a very simple beer to brew. With a few more weeks and carbonation, it may turn out OK.
This is probably not a competition beer.
